Correct and simple modeling of terrain surface geometry is necessary for dynamic stressing of vehicles as well as for the planning of off-road transportation. It is advisable to convert to chaotic methods and procedures in the measuring/recording and analysis process. IA faster sampling is recommended than customary now. Substitution of a running mean for the simple one is mandatory. It is possible to estimate the proportion of random information to the deterministic one in the record. The scale parameter gives correct conversion of spatial spectra to time spectra necessary for input-output calculations. Part of the spectrum problem is still open to discussions but the present state of understanding, too, is giving correct practical solutions. Field tests in Hungary have confirmed the advantages of chaotic analysis and modeling.
